By Mark Anderson

The Road to Omaha and the 2008 College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium begins for Rice Friday as they take on Sam Houston State Bearkats at Reckling Park. The two teams will face off Friday evening at 6 pm with Ryan Berry (7-4, 3.10 ERA) facing Bearkat freshman Dallas Gallant (9-3, 5.15 ERA). St. John will face Texas in the opening game Friday at 2 pm.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the first game—either St. John or Texas—Saturday evening at 6 pm. The two losers play at 2 pm on Saturday. The two winners play at 6 pm Saturday. The championship game will be played either at 6 pm Sunday or 6 pm Monday, depending on where the teams stand.

WELL-ARMED: Ryan Berry (L) and Cole St. Clair (R) are just two of the reasons Rice is well-armed this year.

From top to bottom: Jimmy Commerota, Aaron Luna, and Rick Hague will all play important roles in the Owls' quest to go to Omaha during this regional series.
