Joe Savery to Get Opening Day Start
In case Owl fans have not heard yet, it will be Joe Savery that takes the ball for Rice Saturday in the opening game of the season against Central Missouri State. Last year against Central Missourei, Savery struck out 10 in 4 innings of work and Bryan Cox closed out the 9th with 3 strikeouts of his own. The Owls combined for a total of 21 strikeouts in that game in 2005 which Rice won, 4-2.
But don't underestimate this team, Owl fans. Yes, it is a Division II team. But it is a very good Division II team, as their 57-9 record last year indicates.
UPCOMING:
Tuesday, February 7: McNeese State
No starter has been neamed by Coach Wayne Graham for the McNeese State game or for the Minute Maid Classic. When we hear officially, so will you.
